Busy bees buzz around thistles at the hem of this sweet dress! Worked in the round from the bottom up, this dress begins with a picot edge. The charted stranded knitting pattern is worked next, then a simple knit-and-purl pattern gives texture to the full skirt. The upper body is divided at the armholes and worked flat. Picot trim finishes off the armholes, and clever construction allows one shoulder to unbutton for easy on-and-off. Weave a bright ribbon through the eyelets at the waist for the perfect finishing touch!

This pattern includes four sizes to fit 6 months (18.5”/47cm chest), 12 months (20.5”/52cm chest), 2 years (22”/56cm chest), and four years (24”/61cm chest).

The gauge is 27 sts and 32 rows over 4” (10cm) in stranded Stockinette Stitch on larger size needle, blocked.

This pattern is recommended for intermediate knitters. You should have some experience with stranded knitting, following a color chart, basic decreases, and three needle bind-off technique. You will also use picot and eyelet techniques, which are explained in the pattern.

For this pattern I used Knit Picks Shine Sport (60% Pima Cotton, 40% Modal; 110 yards/50g). You will need 4 (5, 6, 7) balls of White (#24486), and 1 ball each of Peapod (#25342), Crocus (#25332), Dandelion (#25340), and Black (#24485). You may substitute any sport weight yarn for this pattern.

You will also need 32” (80cm) circular needles and DPNs in size US 4 (3.5mm) or the size to obtain gauge, and 32” (80cm) and 16” (40cm) circular needles and DPNs in size US 3 (3.25mm) or one size smaller than size to obtain gauge.

This design also calls for two ½” (12mm) decorative buttons to fasten the shoulder, and a 56 (60, 60, 64)” or 142 (152, 152, 162) cm length of ½” (12mm) wide satin ribbon to tie at the waist.

This pattern includes a schematic, written instructions, and a full color chart.
