This is the washcloth my mom always made. Simple, basic, useful, easy to memorize.

There are no yarnovers, she did not like doing yarnovers.

My mom was not an “expert” knitter. She never made a sock or sweater, or a cable for that matter. Her knitting was confined to scarves and an occasional hat or mitten (knit flat and seamed).

But she made hundreds of these!

I was looking for a pattern like this on Ravelry, to give a friend a simple project while she was recuperating from a hospitalization. To my surprise I could not find a garter stitch washcloth with no yarnovers.

So here’s my mom’s pattern, as an offering to the Knitting Universe.
