This is a stretchy market/tote bag, with a filet-crochet motif of bluebirds. Most of the bag is worked flat, but the handles are worked in the round, for a really strong integral handle (no pulling out or overstretching at the join). The bag has a good capacity in both volume and weight--I can carry the Complete Far Side with no worries, or pack in a queen-size fleece blanket with room to spare.

Size and gauge: it’s a tote bag, so gauge is not crucial; as long as you are working in something like a sport weight it’ll be fine. My finished bag is about 44” diameter and 14” high, plus 11” high handles.

Note: this is my first time writing up a pattern, so please let me know if anything is unclear or if I have broken some pattern etiquette.
