Take a standard canning jar, fill it with potpourri, candy, bath salts or other filling of your choice, cover it with this beautiful jar doily, and you’ll have a country-elegant gift jar that your friends and family will love. These jars make lovely hostess gifts or housewarming gifts, and you’ll want to make them for your own home too.

This jar doily is unusual and beautiful, yet you can make one in less than a day using size 10 crochet thread and a size 7 hook. You’ll want to make several to give as gifts, and some for your own home as well.

Materials and Supplies Needed:

Size 10 cotton crochet thread (white, green, and purple or variegated purple)
Size 7 crochet hook (or size needed to obtain gage)
24-inch length of purple or green ribbon, ¼-inch wide
Small, sharp scissors
Bodkin or large-eyed tapestry needle
Needle that will accommodate size 10 thread
Standard canning jar (2-1/2 inch mouth)
Filling of choice (potpourri, bath salts, candy, cotton balls, etc.)
