Fall means jeans, sweaters, and one of my favorite crochet items: cowls! This crochet cowl pattern is designed to be worn loosely around the neck or tightly around the shoulders. Add a brooch and dress up any solid-colored top.

This crochet pattern is worked side to side, and the border is added in rounds on either side of the cowl. The simple chevron pattern makes this an easy pattern for new crocheters, but the gradual color shift and the use of ch-1 spaces add an element of simple beauty to this cowl.

To give the border its finished effect, you’ll work a reverse single crochet. If this is a new stitch for you, take advantage of the photo tutorial! I’ve also included a link to a video for an alternate border stitch. This crochet cowl pattern is accessible for any level of crochet artist, and it makes a lovely crochet accessory for your fall wardrobe.
