Chevron Bandana Cowl
by Nick Davis
Knit this bandana cowl from colorful scraps! This design is an engaging project with nice results: it works up a bit like a tiny shawl, and the finished knit is a triangular cowl with a nice biased chevron pattern. Variegated yarns, stripes, tonal dyes, and shorter scraps from larger projects can be used to great effect here.
Gauge:
Gauge is 25 sts and 28 rows over 4”/10cm in chevron pattern, worked flat and blocked.
Measurements:
This cowl measures 20”/51cm in circumference, and 14.2(15.75, 17.4)“/36(40, 44)cm deep at the point. These are all the same circumference, although you could add a repeat easily to make a wider cowl style.
Materials:
- 275-375 yards of fingering-weight yarn
- 1 24” circular needles in US4/3.5mm, or size needed for gauge
- spare DPN or circular needle for grafting, same size or 1-2 sizes smaller
- scrap yarn for provisional cast-on
- crochet hook for provisional cast-on
- tapestry needle for weaving in ends
