I like to wear animal-themed hats for Halloween, and this year I just had to be a chicken! I modified the pattern from Knittwittz for a simple earflap beanie (link text) and designed the chicken-parts and added them on. This is my first pattern so I hope it makes sense. I’ve benefited so much from the free patterns on Ravelry, so I thought I’d try to give back a little. Cluck cluck!

Most of the pattern is done in half-double crochet (US) with a G-H hook with worsted weight yarn. I don’t think gauge is very important for this, I just made sure to use the smaller hook for the parts that required stuffing so it wouldn’t show through.
