Colleen Shawl
2017 Sunshine Charlotte Designs CAL

Early spring. Prom. Cool nights on the porch. They all need one thing: a lightweight, lacy wrap that drapes beautifully and looks stylish. The Colleen Shawl is the ideal piece for your fancy or casual outfits as you transition between your winter and summer wardrobes. With its delicate look, this wrap can serve as a spring scarf, a prom dress cover-up, or a bridal shawl.

By working this crochet pattern with a fingering weight yarn and a smaller hook, you get a high-fashion look from an Easy - Intermediate pattern. Featuring a 9-row repeat, the pattern uses both a lattice variation and filet crochet to build a beautiful leaf pattern. The pattern features written instructions and reference photos, but if you prefer to work from a filet crochet chart, that’s also included! If you can sc, dc, and ch, you are ready to create your own ethereal Colleen Shawl.

The Colleen Shawl is the April installment of the 2017 Sunshine Charlotte Designs Crochet ALong, which features a different shawl pattern each month. This year’s CAL projects are meant to be donated to a local children’s hospital - specifically a cancer ward - so they can be handed out to mothers who suffer the pain of watching their child be ill. I design and donate these shawls in memory of my daughter Charlotte, who died of brain cancer in July 2015.
