Description
This Big Bag is a complementary accessory for the Cormorants at Lake Sweater. I designed my first season of knitwear under the title Amsterdam Bird Series.
Cormorants flying around a lake is what this pattern is all about. Walking around the New Lake (De Nieuwe Meer), my podenco dog and I meet and greet the cormorants every day. Keeping their distance, they balance on the water poles where we can see them stretching their glistening wings out in the sun to dry.
While the sweater depicts these awesome birds at daytime, the bag zooms in on the cormorants at dusk.
Like the Icelandic yarn the bag is bulky and ideal as a bulky-knits-project-bag!

About the pattern: Starting with a cast-on-in-the round technique (described in pattern), the bag is build up with reversed stockinette stitch to provide for a strong bottom. After having reached the right size diameter, the pattern leads you upwards starting with the colorwork chart. The bag is topped off with a garter stitch edge, where buttonholes are instructed to facilitate the i-cord straps.
