I remember a time
My frail, virgin mind
Watched the crimson sunrise
Imagined what it might find
Life was filled with wonder
I felt the warm wind blow
I must explore the boundaries
Transcend the depth of winter’s snow

~Dream Theater

I once dyed this amazing skein of yarn into a red and yellow, sunrise bundle of happiness! It became this shawl.
This pattern is great for any semisolid yarn!

Construction
Starts by making the rays. There are two kind of flares, left leaning and right leaningn, and they alter on the edge of the shawl. Flares are knitted one at the time, and left on the needle as the next flare is knitted.
Once all the flares are knitted, they are attached by knitting across all of them on the first row of the body.
