The einrúm cardigan is a descendant of the traditional woollen sweater that has kept Icelanders warm through the ages. The garment follows the body’s contours and adjusts to its shape. With time, the fit becomes looser, but the cardigan regains its fitted shape when washed.

A reference tension gauge appropriate for a medium sized sweater is shown in the pattern. The size can be adjusted by using larger or smaller needles. The zipper, is fastened after the sweater has been washed and covers the entire length of the sweater from the cast on edge to the top of the hood, so the hood can be closed as needed. We have designed the sweater with an inside- pocket. The placement and shape of the pocket resembles a holster, ensuring that the pockets contents are not visible and that the sweater doesn’t stretch when the pocket is used.

Model KBG 3A is knitted in a single color but model KBG 3B is knitted with stripes which are a variation to the traditional Icelandic woollen sweater that has earned its place as the one true Icelandic woolly jumper.
I have arranged the stripes as I like them most, but there is no obstacle to modifying shades and stripes freely.

The shades of the einrúm yarn are named from types of rocks found in Icelandic nature.
