Eulalia is delicate, subtle and graceful. It is a shawl for lace lovers who are looking for a challenge rather than for simple autopilot knitting.

Even though the lace section may look sophisticated, the knitting has its rhythm and after a while you start to see the pattern and can follow it intuitively. Nevertheless, it is very helpful to have your pattern handy!

One of the components that make the pattern so light and airy is lightweight yarn, then there is lacy knitting and aggressive blocking. Solid colour is another factor that brings the pattern to its full advantage.

The pattern could be customized by using different yarns, needle sizes, or adding repeats to the plain section. You can also make the lace section narrower with less repeats of the main pattern. The size depends on how big your plain and lace sections are, my Eulalia was done to make full use of one skein of Filigran Lace and Filisilk by Zitron (100g = 656y/600m).

Level - the shawl uses basic lace stitches – increasing, decreasing and yarnovers but it is done on both sides and requires some attention while knitting. Knit and purl stitches on both RS and WS give it additional texture.
Instructions are both written and charted, WS included.

Yarn – any ranging from lace to fingering.
The lighter blue shawl is done with one skein of Filigran Lace by Zitron and the darker blue shawl with one skein of Filisilk, also by Zitron.
The skeins are 100g = 656y/600m, the lighter one 100% merino wool and a singles by texture, the darker one 70% merino and 30% silk, the yarn with a slight halo.
The shawls are knitted on US 4 / 3.5mm needles and the lighter blue one measures 172cm/68” wingspan and 74cm/29” depth, while the darker blue one is knitted more loosely and measures 177cm/70” wingspan and 78cm/30” depth.
Both shawls drape perfectly and each has its unique charm.

Needles - any size according to the yarn you use.

Gauge is not crucial and depends on the yarn and needles you choose to knit with.
