Cables for Cancer 2017

This is the third pattern in the Cables for Cancer 2017 package. For every Cables for Cancer package purchased in the month of September, I will donate $1 to a pediatric cancer research center studying ETANTR/ETMR, one of the most deadly forms of childhood cancer.

Do you like the cabled look but you’re too intimidated to give one of the more difficult patterns a go? Then this pattern is for you! With the Faux Cabled Cowl, you’ll still use fptr and bptr stitches to create the textured look, but you won’t have to work the difficult crossed stitches that characterize most cabled patterns. With a little bit of effort, you can whip up a cowl that’s cozy and makes you look like a crochet guru!

This cowl is worked flat first, then seamed to create the cowl shape. You’ll add a simple sc border on each side to finish the project off. You can use any chunky yarn you like, but I highly recommend the Andes Alpaca. It’s SO warm! If it’s chilly and I only have a light jacket, I only have to throw this cowl on for instant warmth.

Happy hooking, and don’t forget to come back and show off your finished projects!
