Midwest winters are in a league of their own. The weather can change instantly from snowy to rainy, frosty, to sunny, all in the same week. But they are almost always wet, grey and white. Towards the end of winter, I like to knit for the spring. I like to knit layering pieces that can carry me through the changing season. A garment that can keep my lap cozy as I knit, but still be wearable for the spring and even winter. And so enters Final Frost. This cardigan coat begins as a seamless top down yoke with an asymmetrical closure that was designed to keep the cool spring wind out by preventing gaping. The high-waisted silhouette then lets out into a gathered skirt, complete with hidden pockets, making this coat your best friend during the transition season.
