Hallowe’en is a fun time and your Calico Critters village or your Sylvanian Families settlement would probably enjoy a little fun too, with little animals running around knocking on doors wearing these fun outfits.
I designed these fancy dress outfits as simply as possible to appeal as last minute gifts or decorations, and can be knitted in less than an hour. Indeed, the project is easy enough to be knitted by a child or a brand new learner knitter.
The main stitch is garter stitch which is nicely stretchy and forgiving of mistakes such as a few extra stitches finding their way on to the needles, as many beginner knitters discover.
The orange outfit is made in a scrap of orange sock yarn left over from a project (and if you were to look carefully you would discover that my orange wool ran short, and the back is finished off in orange embroidery floss!) I also made the ghost outfit up in white sport (DK) yarn to show that thickness of yarn is not important. Just go with the flow and knit them in ANY colour.
Just have fun with the knitting and the playing …
