A place where a hope is living

Recently I was asked by my friend Robin McConnell, if I would design a gift for participants of the Walk against Cancer in Kasnas http://www.relayforlife.org . I felt really honoured, but I had a bit of fear also. I felt like a big commitment to design something special, easy to make and with enough space for own creativity. Robin and her friends willl crochet the gifts for participants of this event. It is wonderful that people can joy selflessly together for help to other people – just amazing!

Week I thought about it and the idea still had not come, and then suddenly came to me in the silence of the night. So I designed a little houses - a symbol of home. Because the home is, at least for me, the most important place, and because I am thinking that people, whether health but the sick, need to feel a support of their families and friends and home is for me such a “safe” place for meet each other..

This Walk against cancer will be held in August 2012 in Kansas and in August it will be 10 years since the battle with this disease lost my beloved father-in-law. He was very positive person and I am never beeing sorry that he did not manage to get to know his granddaughters. I would like to give these small “Homes of hope” to his memory, to the memory of my dogie Little prince, who fought like a dragon, and also didn’t win. With his death left a piece of my soul, because it wasn’t just a dog for me, but a true friend. I would like to give these little houses to all people close or distant, who are valiantly fighting with this cruel disease and for those who need a little hope …

Here is a free pattern.

Enjoy it!

From my heart,
