The contrasting color is worked with the sock/fingering weight and uses about 10 yards.

The finished hat pictured first is knit in size Medium and the young man’s head circumference is 22.25”. There is wonderful springiness to the Wool of the Andes and the Ice Stripes Hat stretches to fit snugly.

This is a practical and quick hat to make, great for charity knitting! The stripes come about through working with two strands of yarn held together. Crown shaping couldn’t be easier with a simple four section decrease. The finished Ice Stripes Hat has a snug fit (closer to a beanie in design than a toque) and is sure to keep those ears warm. Try knitting it in black with a bright contrast for the men, and fun colors for kids.
