I love the look of a vintage Sweater Girl. Their beauty, grace, poise, and presence is not seen today. Knitwear was an integral part of the Sweater Girl look…after all how could you be a Sweater Girl…without a sweater?

This little number is something I have been cooking up for awhile now. (There is a cardigan to match…can you say TWINSET!)

I highly recommend using Lion Brand Yarn’s Wool Ease is a great light weight worsted yarn that creates a nice light and airy fabric. Try it in cotton or linen for a nice summer tank perfect for us southerners or work it in a beautiful silk yarn for that special night out. If you do choose to change the yarn listed choose something with a bit of body and drape. Nothing too stiff!

This tank top is constructed in the round from the bottom up. The neckline is knit separately and seamed onto the body. The peter pan collar can is totally optional for a more youthful feel. The shaping int he fabric occurs without increasing or decreasing, simply change your needle size.

I highly encourage you to modify this sweater to fit your body type. Should you desire less waist shaping than shown either omit the needle size change or reduce the needle one size up. Bustier women can even go up one size larger to fit the bust comfortably. There are modification instructions for lengthening the piece to suit your torso as well as instructions for bust sizes 28 to 64 inches.

As with all my pattern, high quality/high resolution photos are included as well as notes on fit and style.

Thank you for your support!

Gauge
20 sts and 20 rows = 4 in. in Pattern Stitch. If your gauge is not that given here, try a smaller or larger needle until you obtain this gauge. If you have to use a different size needle from that called for, it will not in any way alter the garment provided you knit 20 stitches every 4 inches.
