The Kiuru hat is a little sister to my Kiuru pullover (originally published in Laine Magazine issue 3). Kiuru is the Finnish word for a lark - a little bird whose almost unicolor feathers bear intricate patterns if you look closely.

The Kiuru hat is a lightweight hat for transitional seasons. It is knitted in a round from bottom to the top in fingering weight yarn. The pattern includes instructions for two different brim lengths. While the brim is worked in simple and meditative 1x1 ribbing, the main body of the hat has the same, familiar pattern of cables and v-panels as the original Kiuru pullover. If you have been dreaming about making your own Kiuru pullover but find the overall pattern too intimidating, this hat might be the perfect place to start.
