The 2026 Lonely Hearts Club pattern is a two-color mosaic colorwork hat design and is available in four sizes.

Detailed instructions provide options for two different cast-ons as well as brim and length modifications.

The pattern contains links to video tutorials to guide you through the different techniques used, including a thorough introduction to mosaic knitting in the round.

Pattern Details

Sizes: 1 (2, 3, 4).

Finished circumference: 12.25 (15.25, 18.25, 21.25)”/ 30.5 (38, 45.5, 53)cm, blocked and unstretched.

Finished height: approximately 7 (8, 8.5, 9)”/ 17.5 (20, 21, 22.5)cm.

Needles: US 7/ 4.5 mm or size to obtain gauge in the Lonely Hearts Mosaic Chart, and US 5/ 3.75mm or .5 - .75mm smaller than gauge needle for the brim.

Use your preferred needle(s) for working in the round. You will also need appropriate needles (DPNs or Magic Loop) to work a small circumference in the size you achieved gauge.

Gauge: 21 sts = 4”/ 10cm over the Lonely Hearts Club Mosaic Chart in the round, blocked.

Yarn: dk weight:
MC: 42 - 109 yards/ 38 - 100 meters; and
CC: 40 - 84 yards/ 37 - 77 meters.

Notions: stitch markers, tapestry needle.
