Raglan construction and brioche stitch create a super stretchy newborn cardigan. This pattern will keep your little one warm without restricting their movement.

The newborn size will stretch to fit most newborns. My 1-month old is still wearing the newborn size! If you’re expecting a larger baby, or you want a cardigan that will last a little longer, size up.

I’m usually pretty lax about gauge, but I highly recommend knitting and blocking a swatch before beginning this project. Brioche stitch stretches out significantly when blocked.

You won’t need full skeins of yarn for this project. Each cardigan will use approximately half a skein of each color.
