This beautiful horse, with a long, long mane, is named “Missi”. I don’t actually have a horse, but as a kid I often fantasized about the freedom of riding away on a horse. I imagine a field of flowers with the sun shining on the dew and I think of peace and tranquillity.

As with all of my patterns, you have the option of using the interlocking crochet technique or the overlay mosaic crochet technique. Each technique has its own file. And each file has written line-by-line instructions and a chart. The mosaic chart has X’s showing where to do your dropped double crochets.

Interlocking crochet / LFM crochet file

  • line-by-line instructions
  • a one-page chart
  • a multi-page chart

Overlay Mosaic Crochet file

  • line-by-line instructions
  • instructions for optional envelope border
  • instructions on reading a chart
  • a one-page chart marked with X’s for mosaic crochet
  • a multi-page chart marked with X’s for mosaic crochet

As always, I am so grateful for my testers. My team for this pattern included Heather Passmore, Just_Duckie_Crochet, Linda Bakker, & Whimwitch.

The Locked Filet Mesh (LFM) interlocking crochet method uses only chain spaces and double crochets to create a mesh; two colors are worked alternately which creates the pattern.

Mosaic crochet uses single crochet and double crochet stitches. The double crochet stitches cover some of the other color’s single crochet stitches to create the design. My patterns instruct you to cut your yarn at the end of each row. The back is striped but often gives a faint impression of the pattern on the front (sort of like illusion knitting). See an example here.

I have YouTube tutorials available for both crochet methods! Follow this link to get to my YouTube channel and find my other social links.
