Looking for an easy to carry summer vacation project? Mrs. Blandings is a boomerang shaped shawl that uses 2 skeins of sock yarn. Garter stripes are alternated with a modified Indian pillar stitch, both of which keep the shawl straightforward to knit and simple to put down and pick up again without losing track of your stitches.

Requirements

2 skeins sock/fingering yarn (400 yards of MC, 300 yards of CC).
Shown in Gigi Bonin Sock in Mrs. Blandings’ Blue and Foggy Bottom.
US 6/4mm circular needle
Tapestry needle for ends.

Final measurements: 75” along neck edge by 16” at widest portion.

The scalloped edge occurs naturally because the is garter stitch is wider than the solid blue sections. This can be exaggerated with wet blocking and makes for a pretty scalloped finish to the shawl.
