Nancy Shawl
2017 Sunshine Charlotte Designs Shawl CAL

As the weather grows colder, I often crave something warm to wrap around me. The Nancy Shawl fits that bill, and it reminds me of a warm hug from my grandma Nancy. The easy-to-work textured stitches add depth to an Easy Level shawl, so people will be impressed by your crochet skills for only a little bit of effort on your part!

This triangular crochet shawl is worked in rows from the top down. Each section is worked in a different color and features a different stitch. You will need to know the basics of front and back post stitches. You’ll also get to learn the extended hdc, one of my favorite stitches! Working in the BLO at every color change provides that finishing pop to the Nancy Shawl, making it the perfect gift to whip up this Christmas!

The Nancy Shawl is the November installment of the 2017 Sunshine Charlotte Designs Crochet ALong, which features a different shawl pattern each month. This year’s CAL projects are meant to be donated to a local children’s hospital - specifically a cancer ward - so they can be handed out to mothers who suffer the pain of watching their child be ill. I design and donate these shawls in memory of my daughter Charlotte, who died of brain cancer in July 2015.
