Have a new baby girl in the family? She needs an adorable crochet dress, and the pinafore dress is the perfect shape for a newborn. It’s soft and draped, but it’s also loose enough to allow baby to wiggle and squirm. The wide skirt also lets momma and daddy get to the diaper…and all-important factor in choosing baby clothing!

The Nova Pinafore Baby Dress is designed in sizes up to 24 months, and it’s worked in the round. You will work the bib first, then proceed down to the skirt using the same Cluster stitch throughout. The picot edging on the bottom of the skirt, on the sleeves, and optionally on the neckline give this dress its final, cute touch, and there are TWO options for creating the sleeves so you can customize.

Although this pattern is marked Intermediate, I’ve included a photo tutorial to help you work the most difficult round. I’ve also included suggestions for striping, but I think this dress also looks darling in one color with the edging worked in an accent color.
