This is not really a pattern for a hat, so much as it is a recipe for a hat. The idea for spiral ribbed caps is not new and I did not create it - I simply adapted the idea to a hat that fit me or the people I was making the caps for, and this is how I wrote it up on my blog to share with other people.

There is no gauge, you change the needle size and number of stitches you cast on depending on which yarn you choose and what fabric you desire, but the basic recipe remains the same.

From website:

My pattern gives you a nice loose fabric and there really is no gauge required, just preference.

You will want to use smaller needles with Silk Garden or it won’t fit right. With Iro and Kureyon, there seems to be more elasticity and a slightly more snug fit. If you live in a cold place and warmth is really an issue, consider using the Iro on a #10.5 needle.

Yarn Suggestions:
1 skein Noro Kureyon or Silk Garden or Iro

Needle sizes:
1 16” #10 circular needle (#10.5 if you are using Iro, #9 if you are using Silk Garden)
