Onnen sweater got its name from the Finnish word Onni which means luck. Onnenpaita means a lucky sweater. In addition, to that, the cable pattern reminds me of falling leaves and the word onnen means “an ash tree” in Welsh.

This classic sweater is knitted in worsted weight The Fibre Co Cumbria. It is knitted seamlessly in the round from hem upwards. The body has slight feminine waist shaping and an easy to memorize cable pattern on the front. The sleeves are knitted in the round and joined to the body at underarm. The yoke is shaped with raglan decreases. The neckband is picked up from the neck bind off edge and knitted in the round. This way the sweater holds its shape better and the neckline doesn’t stretch under the weight of the worsted weight fabric.
The Onnen sweater was created as a part of the Fibre Company’s Yarn support for indie designers program.
