The pattern is free for now - while we all need a little distraction.

I find it incredible that we can create this effect just with increases and decreases.

The best yarns for this are solid or semi-solid - it looks “fancy” so it’s worth using a special yarn
- I just love my recycled cashmere one.
.
Although it looks fancy, there are no difficult stitches - but you will have to concentrate while knitting.

You will not be able to mark each repeat, you’ll need to count (because of the way the increases are worked it’s simply not feasible to mark repeats).

You will also need to refer to the pattern for each round.

I find knitting this way isn’t the best for social knitting, but it’s perfect when I want my knitting to distract me and carry me away from worries for a little while.

The pattern is based on Barbara Walker’s Optical Illusion, but I made some changes for working in the round, and also to make the lace more open and easier to work.
