This pattern is for a colorwork cowl, which is knit in the round using circular needles.

This is a great colorwork pattern for beginners! Only two colors are used at one time, the repeat is simple to memorize, and there is never move than a five (5) stitch float.

The design is inspired by nature, with the central focus of this pattern drawing on the shape of the Prickly Pear, or
Opuntia, of the cactus family. The border motif reflects additional patterns found in nature, including clouds,
mountains, and water.

Pattern uses three (3) colors of DK weight yarn in approximate yardage shown:
• MC: 150 yards (75 g)
• CC1: 100 yards (50 g)
• CC2: 50 yards (25 g)

Sample knit in Cedar House Yarns Yearling DK in colors Ginger (yellow), Straw (off-white), and
Smoked Porter (brown).

The colorwork chart is available in standard and inverted, to assist with the knitter choosing their own color contrasts and help with low vision knitting.
