As I’m not very keen on sewing, the whole hat has only 2 ends to sew in, and the braids have none at all. I like flaps over the ears, but don’t like knitting them separately as you have extra ends to sew in, same goes for attaching yarn to make ties.

Story behind the original one: here
Once I had made that one, everyone wanted one, and in all different sizes.
Seems once you’ve made one, you’ll end up with pixies galore (comment that was made here about them all).

So now :
Pixie hat in 3 sizes. (how many will you make ?)

Sizing is determined by yarn weight/gauge.

Adult/teen - aran weight
Child - DK
Baby - fingering (or lace weight held double - in which case you need to double the stated yardage).

The hat is knitted flat and then grafted/kitchenered together (the only fiddly bit - everything else is very easy).

The pattern includes step-by-step photo tutorials for both the easy no-sew braids, or leaf or pod ties.

Many thanks to the testers:
