Ratas Pom-Pom Hat
RATAS pom-pom hat is inspired by a traditional knitting motif from Hiiumaa, Estonia — the «tõllarattakiri», or carriage wheel pattern. «Ratas» means «wheel» in Estonian — a symbol of life’s rhythm, movement and continuity.
The pattern comes as a PDF with written instructions, charts and photos which you can download immediately after the payment. It prints onto A4 or US Letter paper.
This is easy level knitting pattern; the following skills are required: Cast on, Knit, Purl, Circular Knitting, Color Knitting, Bind-Off. All measurements are given in US and metric. Hat is knitted in one piece. Furthermore full pattern support is available by message or email.
SIZE: 58–62 cm | 23–25“ circumference, 26.5 cm | 10.5” height plus pom-pom.
YARN: Any Aran (8 wpi) weight yarn. I used Nepal by DROPS Design: 1 ball (50 g | 82 yds) in Chalk (8916, MC) and 1 ball (50 g | 82 yds) in Camel (0618, CC). You will use about 44 g of each colour for the hat, and the remaining yarn will be enough for a pom-pom approximately 6.5 cm | 2.5” in diameter.
