The Ray Of Hope Sampler Blanket is available for free on my blog here.

This mandala-like sampler blanket was created to look like a stained glass window. Created post pandemic, it was a time when brightness was needed and this very much fed into the design.

There are 40 pieces surrounding a central sun mandala, with each of those pieces being made with a different crochet stitch, making this a sampler blanket with a variety rarely seen.

Each piece has its own step by step guide with pictures and video walkthrough so that you can create each stitch as easily as possible.

The central mandala is made in a single piece with the individual rays being made separately and attached later. Finally a jewel-like border is made around the entire blanket to finish the design off. I deliberately chose to use a wide range of colours in my own blanket, but you could use far fewer - the choice is entirely yours, but I wouldn’t recommend using fewer than 5 colours.

The blanket is made with DK or light worsted yarn and you will need around 3200 m / 3500 yds of yarn in total to make it.

For my blanket I chose to use Scheepjes Softfun yarn in 18 different colours. I used 1 x 50g ball of Scheepjes Softfun for each of the outer panel colours, which are also used for the coloured puffs in the outer border. I then used an additional 50g ball for each of the 4 colours in the central mandala. Finally I used 6 balls of black to join all the pieces and as my main colour for the border, making 27 balls of Scheepjes Softfun in total.

You will also need 11 stitch markers and a 4mm and 3mm hook.

This pattern was originally released as a crochet along in 2021 over 45 weeks. The pattern is now complete and is available on my blog for free here, or you can purchase the whole design here on Ravelry.

The gauge is not important for this design unless you wish your finished piece to be the same size as mine - 1.25 metres wide.
This circular design is an ideal blanket for a bed topper or as a lap blanket - you could even attach it to a hoop and use it as a statement wall hanging.

The pattern you are purchasing is a digital download and not a physical copy.

You are permitted to sell your finished items made from this pattern, but I would appreciate being credited with designed by Froggity Frog in your listings.
