I’ve always loved the story of Sleepy Hollow, and the new TV show dramatizing the tale brings a fun modern twist to an old classic. With winding cables and sparks of crystal beads, there are little bright flashes of hope and light in a dark and twisting wood of impossibilities.

Available in two yarn weight options and optional beads, the possibilities are endless with this sock. Knit it up in Sport or Light DK yarn for a cozy “boot” sock ready for forest adventures or the chill of winter floors. Knit it up in a delicate fingering with a glimmering of beads and you have a sock any sophisticated sock lover would adore. Or make it without beads for the special Icabod Crane in your life.

General Notes: This is a cuff down sock in three sizes with two different yarn weight options for a total of 6 different fits. The SPORT/DK weight version has the same CO count as the FINGERING weight version 64, 72, 80 but has a fit closer to M, L, XL. The Fingering weight version fits as you would expect, S, M, L. Notes are included in the pattern for adjusting the length to suit a variety of tastes as well as adjusting the fit in the foot for those with narrower feet and wider calves.

Techniques: Beading is optional. The beads are not pre-strung, but are attached using a crochet hook. Notes on how to accomplish this are in the Notes section. Cabling without a cable needle is not required but is recommended. You can use a cable needle.
