On the heels of my other Doctor Who inspired sock patterns (Rescue Me, Chin Boy, and Show Me the Stars & Socks For Ten), I am super excited to have collaborated with Julia of Pandia’s Jewels on a series of 3 more Doctor Who inspired sock patterns. The first pattern is inspired by my absolute favourite Doctor Who companion, River Song.

These socks are mirror images of each other. The cables on the outside and inside of the sock were chosen because they remind me of a flowing river (and since her name is River, how could I not have made that connection). The main design element, a panel on the front and back of the sock, is reminiscent of the doors of the TARDIS as well as the cover of River’s ϋber important journal.

Happy Knitting! And No Spoilers Sweetie!

These socks are knit using the magic loop method (although the purchaser could easily adapt it for two circulars or double points).

Judy’s Magic Cast On and Jeny’s Surprisingly Stretchy Bind Off are used in this pattern.

The knitter needs to be comfortable with the following techniques: knit, purl, KFB, Ktbl, p2tog, ssk, M1R, M1L, cables, slipping stitches both knitwise and purlwise, and working with yarn held in front / working with yarn held in back. Instructions for all these techniques are included in the pattern.

This pattern includes instructions in both written and chart forms for 64 stitch and 72 stitch socks.

I’d like to express my immense gratitude to the creators of Doctor Who for their entertaining work. This design would never have been possible without their inspiration.

Huge thanks to my amazing test knitters: Amy (knitnmom), Andrea (angeiship), Ashleah (a1dawen), Cristy (cristyray), Julia (nimruse), Tracy (phoenixfire), and Zena (littleyellowuke). ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
