Note: some sources give instructions for the full-sized tablecloth, others give instructions for the two motifs, and suggest various-sized cloths or mats that can be made with them. There are also slight variations in suggested materials between publications.

The following information is from Book No. 40, Modern Table Settings in Crochet.

The star wheels are made separately and then joined to­gether, the number of wheels necessary depending on the size of cloth desired.

Materials:
Clark’s O.N.T. or J. & P. Coats Mercerized Crochet, Size 30, Ecru. Number of balls required depends upon size of cloth. Each motif requires 37 yards of thread.
Milward’s steel crochet hook No. 8.

The following information is from Book No. 88, Modern Table Settings.

Gauge: One large motif measures 4¼ inches in diameter and requires about 25 yards of thread. Each fill-in-lace requires about 4 yards of thread. When completed, tablecloth measures about 68 x 85 inches. Make 320 large motifs, then join them together as explained later.

Materials:
Choose one of the following threads in White or Ecru:
Clark’s O.N.T. Mercerized Crochet, size 20, 74 balls.
J. & P. Coats Mercerized Crochet, size 20, 53 balls.
J. & P. Coats Big Ball, size 20, 31 balls.
Clark’s Big Ball, size 20, 31 balls.
