This easy knit is the perfect take-along project on your summer adventures! Use 2 gradient sets plus a 13th color, leftovers, just 2 colors, or any combination of colors you want. It’s worked from the bottom up and shaped into a bent rectangle with simple increases and decreases. Modifications for size or gauge/different yarn weights are simple to make. The number of bands knit is up to you - there are 23 in the sample (not including the top and bottom borders).

Skills required:
• Long-tail cast-on
• Decreasing
• Increasing
• Slipping stitches
• Yarn overs
• Icelandic bind-off (instructions given)

Yardage details:
Sample shown used almost every bit of two 6-skein gradient sets from Miss Babs - a Caroline set in Amazing Day and a Yummy 2-Ply set in Pegasus, plus 60 yards of Caroline in Parchment. All 13 colors were used twice (except for Parchment, which is the center stripe).

The starting and ending borders used 42 yards each, the garter bands used 60-65 yards each, and each eyelet band used 65-70 yards - but remember that yardage used for garter stitch can vary widely from knitter to knitter, so it’s best to have a bit extra! Be especially careful of gauge if you are using planning to use skeins twice that have 130-135 yards per skein.

Pattern chat thread is here - please don’t hesitate to post any questions about yarn, gauge, size, modifications, etc!

We’re doing monthly shawl KALs in my group - nominations and voting for the next shawl happen around the 3rd week of the current month. We’re having so much fun and would love to have you join us!
