The Grand Canal Tam is a traditional Fair Isle tam with a modern design.

The black and white brim represents the mooring posts and gondolas so indicative of the Grand Canal of Venice, Italy. The body of the tam echoes the deep blue, green, and grey hues of the water and the rolling white crests of waves of this most famous of canals.

The hat is optionally finished with gold beads topping the mooring posts and one larger (hopefully Murano) bead hanging from a short tassel.

The tam fits a normal head but can be blocked a bit larger. It uses 8 colors of Jamieson Spindrift (one skein of each color) which is Shetland yarn, a joy to work with both in color and texture.

The tam is warm but also light to wear, which means you can wear fall and winter. And you could even wear it standing on the Rialto Bridge and looking down on the water that is also on your head.
