This pattern is knitted in the round with the magic loop technique. You could also knit him in the round with DPNs.
I have knitted this pattern with handspun yarn on size 4mm circular needles.

The pattern is 10 pages long with plenty of instructions and photos to guide you through the creation process:)

Measurements when finished:
6 inches from his back flipper to his head
7 inches across his front
2.5 inches high
