Pronounced: HEER-eyeth Cas-glee-ahd.
Hiraeth is a Welsh word which has no direct English translation. It means a homesickness for a home to which you cannot return, a home which maybe never was; the nostalgia, the yearning, the grief for the lost places of your past.
For those of who love the works of J.R.R Tolkien and other authors I think this word evokes the feelings we have when we are carried “home” by their words.
Casgliad is simply Welsh for Collection.
