Notes

A fun way to solve the ‘What can I do with only 3 skeins of each color’ yarn aggrevation… of my local Tuesday Morning Store…

’JUMBO’ knitting is hot right now and the ‘yarn’ (roving?) that the patterns call for is ridiculously expensive (one I found was $7 for 20-something yards!!!!) This probably isn’t a whole lot cheaper if using full retail priced worsted weight - but by triple plying (Navaho/chain plying) a double strand of worsted weight - for 6 strands total - and using Size 35 needles (19 mm), I’ve knit cowls of various sizes using either 2 or three skeins of Amazing and the results are quick and… well… amazing!!!

Directions:
Backwards loop cast on odd # of stitches (I did 9 to 15) with a contrasting color ‘waste’ yarn then for each row, k1, p1 across, but slip last stitch knitwise with yarn in front. Keep knitting until you run out of yarn… The nicest thing about this project is how FAST it goes… if it’s not gonna be long enough… frog and redo with fewer stitches in each row.

Hardest part of this whole project is grafting together when done: but I’ve figured out a pretty good methodology: stop when you’ve got 2-3 yards left, leaving the waste yarn in place, follow the knit/purl loops in the waste yarn as you go along. There will be ‘knit’ stitch below the purl stitches (of the beginning)/’purl’ stitch below the knit stitches… I’ve tried various methods of joining the ends - none are perfect - but people are so intrigued by how soft these look… it doesn’t seem to bother them. If you want a ‘mobius’ cowl - just twist once before joining (the brown one ended up this way by accident :p )
