_Test Knit For Cassandra Peltier_
(My first test knit!)
Gauge
2 strands Barefoot Sock (fingering) held together in stockinette; decreased needle size from US 7 (4.5mm) to US 6 (4.0mm) to achieve gauge.
Cast on
I cast on 148sts with a crochet provisional cast-on. I accidentally began with US 4 (3.5mm) when, according to the pattern, my smaller needles should be 1mm smaller than the larger, so I’m going to frog it and start again with US 2.5 (3.0mm).

Attempt 2
Success! After frogging the first attempt ~14 rows into the collar, I switched to US 3 circulars and started over.
I’m so excited, I stopped for progress photos only 12 rows into the body :)
I found that the collar took 16 rows to get to 5cm before I picked up and knit the cast-on row.

Planning
I finished the first skein-length of MC. It made 13076sts (including the 1x1 rib and the M1L/M1R sts), so I estimate 30.623sts per yard.
The sleeve pattern has not been finalized by Cassandra yet, but based on my estimate I expect the sweater will be a total of 79542sts, or 2598 yards, or 6.1 skein-lengths.
I started with 3 skein-lengths of MC, so even considering the CC reducing the total stitch count, I still expect to run out of MC. Elise of Sunday Fibre Co has agreed to dye me an additional 6 skeins (3 skein-lengths) of MC, and estimates it will be shipped in the second week of June, because she’s amazing
I might be able to finished the yoke and body with the yarn I have.

Finished
I’ve finished the sweater, it’s just blocking now and waiting for final photos.
Sleeve issue:
We settled on 2 decreases every 5 rows after the first contrast stripe on each sleeve. I ended up knitting 114 rows, or 8 repeats + 10sts, before switching to the smaller needles to knit the ribbed cuff. The sleeve was 77sts so I k2tog at the beginning of the ribbed section to decrease to 76sts for an even number.
Yardage
I finished the sweater with the following remnants:

Sizing
The finished sweater has the underarms falling below my bra band, which is not the case for the sample. The upper arm circumference is also pretty big. I’d recommend reworking the yoke to decrease these two measurements.
The pattern called for 41.5cm from the bottom of the collar to the top of the hem, but that would have been less than 10cm from the underarm, so instead of matching the collar-to-hem distance of the sample, I matched the underarm-to-hem distance of the sample. This made the sweater pretty long, and the split hem landed on my hips instead of my waist, which wasn’t the intended look. I think this would be solved by shortening the yoke and knitting the original collar-to-hem distance.
Other notes
Centering the colour changes on the back of the sweater is symmetric, but even using a “jogless” stripe method I found that this construction highlighted the joins.
