Notes

I had a couple of balls of variegated chunky yarn and didn’t know how far it would go. So I developed a pattern that started from a short cast-on and could keep growing until the yarn was used up.
The mitred corner front and back combined with the long rows made a great design feature out of the multi-coloured yarn. Rows of eyelets and garter stitch add a bit of texture.
An integrated neck opening with moss stitch border was created by splitting the work onto two circular needles.
Once the poncho body was completed, I added a moss stitch border hem and sleeves with eyelet detailing in a contrasting plain colour but similar yarn for a cosy oversized sweater.
I used up the small amount of leftover yarn by knitting a small loop in moss stitch which serves as a cowl like a detached collar.
