Just started making started granny squares with the left over ends of my Felix Blanket and it grew from there.

I always make started granny squares with short left-over yarn. It’s a great help when starting a multi-coloured granny blanket to have a few little squares to get you started and it saves having lots of tangled ends to store.

I decided to make a 4 rounds of granny clusters and 1 border round of dc’s in white.

Joined the squares using this tutorial for the Zig-Zag Join. I think it would have been more effective if I had used one of the blues, but it was voted out by my daughter, so I went with the white.

It’s a nice flat join and looks very effective in a contrasting colour where you can see the detail.

It’s a little fiddly in places, but well worth the struggle in my opinion. I will definitely use it again.

Border:

Rd 1: 2dc, ch2, 2dc for corner, dc in each stitch.
Rd 2: In cloud blue, 1sc, ch2, 1sc for corner, sc in each st.
Rd 3: In white, 2hdc, ch 2, 2hdc in corner, crossed hdc along sides.
Rd 4: In Aster Blue, same as Rd. 2.
Rd 5: Same as Rd. 3.
Rd 6: Same as Rd: 2.
Rd 7: In white, crab stitch all around working 2 in corners.
