Test Knit!

Using Miss Babs Katahdin in Ebony as my CC (or DC - dark color). Hard to choose because I’m really drawn to fiery oranges to go with the dragon motif. But I’m going with a discontinued hank of Kilimanjaro in a variegated grey. I’ve got more of that and my intent is to do the first set in the full pattern.

Gauge swatch? Hahaha! My first set will be my swatch.

Latvian braids
. It’s been a number of years since I did these. Easier than I remember!

Yarn dominance
. I started with the black dominant. But some of the light grey stitches were disappearing.
. Not sure if it is the difference in bases or just a trick of the color.
. Switched to the light grey dominant and it looks better.

. I really like the reverse color projects I’ve seen, with the dragon motif in the light color. I think it looks pretty good both ways.
. I also really like some of the gradient projects!

Thumbs
. I did mine with one fewer set of ‘blocks’. I have smaller hands. So measure yours and try them on as you go.

I’ve never made mittens with this classic triangular form at the top. I like them more than I thought I would, but then my fingers are more that shape too.

I opposed on my first set - if you look closely at the two mitts, you’ll see I only did 5 sets on the cuff pattern instead of 6. Oh no, I’ll have to make another pair to get matching sets! LOL. Will make good gifts.
