i incorporated the tunic pattern, but made a coat instead. i followed the stitch pattern, made it longer, and added fitted sleeves, and a curved neck at the back.

209 stitches across.
i followed the pattern for the 2 rectangles, but only did one row of dc (for row 1 only) on each side before starting the v stitch rows. i started v stitch on row 2.

i connected the two pieces as the pattern suggested. I left 45 stitches for the arm hole.

sleeves:
i made hdcs in the armpit area for the first 3 rows. i began row 1 with v stitches, so i made 3 sets of v stitches in hdc, continued with dc v stitches until the last set of 3. i finished the row with 3 sets of hdc v stitches (15 sets of v stitches total).
row 2 was the same except i decreased in the last v (14 sets of v stitches).
row 3 - hdc in each of the hdc v stitches, dc in the rest. (42 stitches)
row 4 - dc in each stitch around.
i continued in the pattern of 2 v stitches rows and 2 dc rows, decreasing every 2nd v stitch row. i wnt through 6 pattern repeats on the sleeves. i fished the sleeve with 4 dc rows and a sc edge, decreasing by 2 stitches on the edging.

neck and front edge:
i went around the front edge with a sc row using a j hook. when i got to the neck, i decreased 12 stitches across the neck to 6 stitches (sc2tog across 12 stitches).
