Notes

Need 550 yards / 502 metres, i.e. 2 skeins of 4 ply / merino twist or 4 skeins of dk

After going through almost one skein and loving every stitch, I had to listen to myself and choose a different yarn for my friend’s gift. The yarn was incredibly beautiful and lovely to work with, but I knew my buddy wouldn’t be comfortable wearing such bright colours. The DK was also making a too thick and firm scarf, whereas I wanted something with drape.
I’m happy though because I get to keep the yarn for a project for myself! Yippee!

Now planning to use skein 2 of Almost Shorebreak for S, and skein 1 (slightly less crazy) for my rabbit hole cardigan.
Hmm. Hope this is not spreading it too thin…

10 x 10 stitches double crochet UK makes a square 6 cm x 7.5cm. Size 5 hook.

Decided, after various tests, to use both skeins, though they’re a bit different in tone, for a scarf for S. Using a 5.5 hook as it gives more drape with dk wool. I reduced the number of stitches but forgot by how much. Will count later but think it is around 220. Still makes a scarf of decent length. Lucky I didn’t do more, as have now run out of yarn after playing yarn chicken with the edging. Need a small amount more and not sure what to do…

Finally finished smiley
Tried to find an end or two at Cowgirlblues but they had none! So I had finally to accept that I had to do the last metre of the binding with Camps Bay, a bright sea-like turquoise that blends in well enough.
Ta da!
Just blocking to do before giving it for Xmas, yay.
