Notes

Started again on JP’s gift. Same pattern but now using 4 ply, almost solid, instead of highly variegated DK.
V different feel. Using pattern basically unchanged for now and seems to be fine though with smaller hook. Initially tried a 4 hook but result didn’t look v different to 4.5 so using 4.5 as will go quicker and have good drape.
Each row takes ~22 minutes!
I did 365 chain to cast on, instead of 285 (I think), which I worked out using a 10 x 5 chunk. (Made this change because not working with dk yarn as per pattern)
Hope it’s not comically long… (is a bit longer than strictly necessary but ok; the risk when working a scarf lengthways not widthways…)

Beautiful, smooth yarn!
The lovely people at cowgirl blues saved the day when I ran out of indigo wool by giving me some ends of balls for free! Without this help, I wouldn’t have been able to finish. Much appreciated!
Only quibble: of 5 balls, one was greyer or flatter in colour than the others, which meant it showed where the ball change was. I suppose this is a risk with indie dyed yarn?
Other than that the yarn was a dream. Smooth, easy on the hand, no itch, no splitting, beautiful colour.

28-09-2019 pattern thoughts

The scarf is a bit wider than I’d intended; not the pattern’s fault. The pattern is good and clear. The only oddity is that it doesn’t say to chain one at the end of each row for the turn. I did though. Also didn’t bother to turn clockwise. The twisting stopped once I started the front loop only sc/dc.
I had to learn the front loop sc/dc and the reverse sc/dc but neither was hard.
