This was again a project using up Joan’s skein of yarn for her. We decided on this pattern because of the pretty lacy edge. The look reminds me somewhat of the “Chinook” link text I knitted earlier this year, but it is constructed very different. Whereas the Chinook was knitted sideways this one is knitted from a middle point and finished by splitting into two tail ends (you will have to use two skeins of yarn at this point or work from the inside and outside of one ball of yarn).
When knitting the main body I found myself double checking if I was supposed to knit or purl and ended up writing the 8 row lace repeat down not as a chart, but as row by row instructions. This made it somewhat easier.
I am pleased with the outcome; it is a very intriguing design.
