This is the last project in my birthday series. I had asked for yarn and knitting requests and my son Gerry picked out this beautiful yarn for socks.

Last but not least I cast on the pair of socks for my eldest. Since this is not a seasonal project like the cowls, scarf and hats, I left it for last and the recipient is happy to wait so I can keep this on the back burner as my travel project.

This is for a US shoe size 13 foot. ( gasp).
But all socks start out small, just like my son, too, who was just a little peanut at first and look at him now: 6 foot 4 inches!

I love the colors of the yarn. He wanted earth tones and earth tones he found ( with Mary’s help).

Toe up increase to 68 sts.

About five rows before turning the heel the project had to go into hibernation due to sprained ligament
zzzz March 2 until TBD ……turned out to be a BROKEN wrist……zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

May 26. The only project I took along while traveling in Germany, I started on the socks again. It is slow going and a little frustrating as my hand still hurts. I see lots of PT before I am back to normal.
May 28. Finished half a heel and the boomerang row on one sock.
June 1.: Finished both heels, tried them on and there is too much negative ease. Unraveled both heels and will add 3 -4 rows…Also re-read the pattern instructions , re-calculated and re-checked the cardboard foot. I think I was a little too eager to start the heel.

July 8: Finally Finished !!!
