Notes

The new Piecework magazine (Fall 2019) has four projects from their former Unofficial Downton Abbey Knits series, to help people like me to bridge the time until the new Downton Abbey movie comes out in September.

These mitts were a perfect match: 1920ies fashion, fingerless mitts that are usable in Texas, and I had Berroco’s Mantra in mind.

The default gauge is not a perfect fit, so I knit the silk tighter than recommended to get close to the pattern gauge. The mitts are a little bit wider than the original design, but are very comfy, good looking, and wearable.

I used only one skein, but with only about one yard left, I recommend that you either get a second skein, just in case, or shorten the mitts by one (4 row) repeat, which will ensure that you’ll have enough.

I very much enjoyed this fun, quick, and very stylish knit! Would make a great holiday gift (together with the movie, of course).
